GRANDSON, SGT. "COUNTRY BOY", BACK IN IRAQ ON SECOND TOD.

COUNTRY BOY INSIDE 5 TON TRUCK. THIS IS ONE OF THE TRUCKS HE DRIVES IN IRAQ. NOTE ON THE CEILING OF THE TRUCK THE MECHANISM FOR THE GUN TURRENT ON TOP (SEE PHOTO BELOW). COUNTRY BOY ATOP A 5 TON TRUCK WITH 50 CALIBER GUN. THE GUN TURRENT ROTATES OR REVOLVES SO THAT THE GUNNER MAY FIRE IN ANY DIRECTION. THE MECHANISM CAN BE SEEN INSIDE THE CEILING OF THE TRUCK IN ABOVE PHOTO. COUNTRY BOY - I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE SACKS OF MATERIAL ARE.
COUNTRY BOY WITH A DESERT IRAQI FAMILY, IN FRONT OF THEIR ABODE. WITH A BIG SMILE, PAPA IRAQI SHOWS HIS PRIDE IN HIS FAMILY AND BEING PHOTOGRAPHED WITH THE AMERICAN SOLDIER. COUNTRY BOY SAYS THE LOCAL PEOPLE IN THIS AREA ARE FRIENDLY.
EVEN IN THE IRAQI DESERT, THE UBIQUITOUS MACDONALDS. COUNTRY BOY GETS A BIG MAC.
IRAQ; ONCE MESOPOTANIA, THE FERTILE CRESCENT. THIS LAND IS LIKE THAT OF PARTS OF ISRAEL IN THE BEGINNING; ALL IT NEEDS IS WATER TO MAKE THE DESERT BLOOM LIKE A ROSE AND PRODUCE LIKE IT ONCE DID. IN THE PAST, IT WAS A "FERTILE CRESCENT"

Is this any place for a web footed Gulf Coast Texas boy to be?

Comments:
Great pics! Those bags look like sandbags. That's what I'd guess anyway.
